It follows the pure heroine, Carlotta Flower, as she is pursued by the villain, Cassius Carstairs. They play is a comedic burlesque that uses exaggerated melodrama tropes, complete with a heroine to be saved, a villian to be hissed, and a hero to be cheered by the audience.
